Sneak Peek - Spring Catalogue

Friday 28 December 2012

The Stampin' Up! Spring Catalogue will be released January 3rd and I've had a chance to play and be creative with some of the amazing new products!  All I can say is WOW!  If you haven't received your catalogue yet, email me to get yours now.  Starting January 22nd, Sale-a-Bration (SAB) starts as well.  That means for every $60 you spend from either the Spring Catalogue or the Annual Catalogue, you can choose 1 product free from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue.  You don't want to miss out!

Here's a couple of samples using some of the new products.  I have to say I love the new embossing folders - the Honeycomb folder is in the Spring Catalogue and the Vine Street folder is in the SAB catalogue.

Lots of Spring Catalogue supplies used in this card:
  • Honeycomb Embossing Folder (Item 129378)
  • Amazing Family stamp set (Item 129192 - Clear or Item 129189 Wood)

This card uses some of the products you can choose for free when you purchase $60 worth of product during Sale-a-Bration.
  • Vine Street Embossing Folder (Item 130492)
  • Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper (Item 127540)
  • Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack (Item 130812)

I'm holding an All Occasions Card Class on January 26 - we'll make 5 cards including envelopes for $30.  If you're interested, email me to register or click here.

Happy stamping,

Merry Christmas!

Thursday 20 December 2012

Hi everyone,
One last post before taking a break over the Christmas holidays.  My husband and are visiting my family this Christmas.  I'm really looking forward to spending time with my two sisters and their families.
I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all the very best this holiday season!  I'll be back to blogging after New Year's Day.

Happy Holidays and Happy Stamping!

New Blog Header

Wednesday 19 December 2012

Did you notice my new blog header?  I created it using My Digital Studio 2 (MDS2).  So easy and so much fun to create cards, photobooks, photo pages, journals and of course, blog headers.
I used some of the new products that will be available starting January 22nd as part of Sale-A-Bration!  One of the perks of being a SU! demonstrator is that we have access to purchase those products in advance of them being available to customers!
To get more information on MDS2 or on becoming part of my team - email me.  I'd love to share!

A day of catching up!

Monday 17 December 2012

This weekend was a weekend for catching up.  My christmas shopping and my christmas cards are all done.  I finally got a chance to finish some projects I had been working on and also to play with some of the wonderful new products from the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalogue.  One of the many perks of being a SU! demonstrator is that we get to order from new catalogues one month earlier than everyone else.  And I have to say this catalogue has some AMAZING new products in it.

First, a project that I finished.  I had signed up for a flower arrangement class that my upline Alison Solven and fellow demonstrator Liane Binder were giving in September.  Unfortunately I was really sick that Saturday so I missed the class.  Liane was wonderful enough to make one sample of each flower for me, so yesterday I finished the rest and put it all together.  It is really amazing - even more so in person!  Thanks Alison and Liane for such a great project.

Now on to some sneak peaks from the new Spring Catalogue.  I had fun being creative. These cards are made using a Stampset and matching Framelits called Hearts a Flutter.  You could use this for lots of different cards, but definitely fits for Valentines Day.  In addition to the stampset and framelits, I used another stampset, Designer Series Paper, Embossing Folders and Designer Brads from the new catalogue plus a punch from Sale-A-Bration! Can you spot them?

If you want a new catalogue and the Sale-a-Bration Catalogue, email me and I'll make sure you get one.  Better yet, call or email me to learn about more of the perks if you sign up as a demonstrator - you can make your own sneak peaks!

Christmas Gifts

My Christmas cards are all finished and in the mail, so I've moved on to a few last minute gifts.  I shared the name cards and embossed tin I made for a friend of mine in an earlier post.  Today I'm sharing an embossed picture frame that I made for a gift exchanges for a couple of Christmas Parties I am going to (apologies to the demonstrators in Alison's downline as this will be a sneak peek for our gift exchange on the 17th).

Embossing a metal tin or a metal picture frame is really very easy and is so beautiful in the end.  For this picture frame I used the Snowflake Soiree stampset stamping with Versamark and then Gold Embossing Powder and Pewter Embossing Powder.

A couple of tips:
  • Make sure your frame or tin is clean and using the Embossing Buddy to remove any static - this makes sure that the embossing powder won't stick where you don't want it to.
  • Do one colour embossing powder at a time.  I embossed with gold first and heated with my heat gun.  Once it cooled, I rubbed again with the Embossing Buddy and then stamped and embossed the Pewter image.
So easy and such a beautiful gift!

Gift for a friend

Monday 10 December 2012

A friend of mine asked me to make some blank name tags that she could use for her table at Christmas time.  These are so simple to make!

I cut a 1 1/2" x 3" piece of Whisper White Card stock and stamped the Christmas Tree image from the Evergreen stamp set (Item 128973) in Gumball Green (I love this colour!).  Once that had dried really well (you can use your heat gun on low to dry the image), I rubbed over the image with the Embossing Buddy to remove any static.  Then I stamped using Versamark with the other image tree from the Evergreen stampset and then sprinkled with gold embossing powder.  Final touch was a rhinestone which I coloured with the Gold Stampin' Dazzle Marker (Item 128979) for the top of the tree and a base of Gumball Green Card stock cut at 1 3/4" x 3 1/4".

I decided to make her a tin to put them in as well. For the tin I stamped using Versamark the tree from the Evergreen stampset and also a snowflake from Snowflake Soiree (Item 127925).  For the tree I embossed with gold embossing powder and the snowflakes are embossing using Iridescent Ice.  Final touch is ribbon and a bow.  I used the 7/8" Cotton Ribbon which is perfect for stamping on - just make sure you let it dry a bit before tying your bow so that it doesn't smear.  Isn't this pretty!

This was really easy to make and makes a great hostess gift.  I know my friend will love it!

Shares from Barb's Shoebox Swap

Friday 7 December 2012

The other day I shared my swap for my friend Barb's ShoeBox swap.  We had such a great time getting together - stamping, chatting and of course nibbling on the wonderful goodies that everyone brought.  I wanted to share the wonderful creations that we made that night.  Thanks everyone for creating such amazing cards and of course for the fun evening.

Farah's card.  She loves black and white!
This picture doesn't show the 3D effect very well so I included a picture with the card laying down.  We cut pieces of the flower and glued them to the image.  In a couple of cases I used 3 layer to really pop up the image.  What a beautiful card!  Thanks Farah!
Alison's card.  I think you can see the shimmer.  It's much prettier in person.
Liane's creation.  This was so simple, but very lovely.  It's hard to see the distressing and sponging in the picture.
Chris' card.  This was fun to make.  We used the silver Stampin' Dazzle Marker to colour the snowflake stamp.  What a creative way to get a silver snowflake.
Barb's card.  Another stampset that I don't have - Scentsational Season (Item 121190) and everytime I make a card with it, I wish I did :)  Love the use of the framelits.
Catherine's creation.  I love this card - it uses one of my favourite Stampsets - Snow Much Fun.  We used the white gel pen (item 105021) to colour in the snowman - what a great effect!

Thanks everyone for the great evening!  If you have a group of friends that you want to get together with and just enjoy a relaxing evening stamping and having fun - call or email me to organize a party!  The new Stampin' Up! Spring Catalogue comes out in January and of course it's Sale-a-Bration starting January 22nd.  Two great reasons to have a party!

Not a Christmas Share

It's getting close to Christmas, but I decided that I was going to think "outside the Christmas Box" for a swap I'm participating in tomorrow night.  A few Stampin' Up! demonstrators are getting together to stamp and enjoy the evening.  We're doing a ShoeBox Swap so I have to prepare 8 kits so that everyone can make one of my cards.

I purchased the Clockworks stampset a while back, but with all of the Christmas creativity I haven't had a chance to use it.  I have to say I love this stamp set.  Here's the card I've created for the ShoeBox Swap (apologies to those ladies participating as you'll get a sneak peek!).

The colours are Basic Grey and Summer Starfruit (one of my favourites from the new collection of in colours).

You can get this stamp set and much more if you consider purchasing the Stampin' Up! Starter Kit.  For only $125 you can get $155 worth of free SU! product.  PLUS, if you sign up before December 16th you'll receive a set of Ink Pads worth $64.95 in either the Bright, Regal or Subtle Collection for free.  What a deal! What an amazing early Christmas present!

As a hobbyist or as a demonstrator, the free product is just the start of the benefits - discounts, subscription to Stampin' Success (an amazing magazine that SU! sends out every 2 months full of creative ideas) and access to Stampin' Connection (a website of great ideas and shares from demonstrators around the world!)

If you're interested, either contact me or click here to learn more and sign up.

Happy stamping,
Melva
